How to Make Smoothies in Less Time

How to Save Time Making Smoothies

Smoothies are great for snacking and can even be used as a meal replacement, but they take time to make. However, with a little creativity and the suggestions provided below, you can cut the time in half while still enjoying your smoothie.

Rather than going to and from the grocery store several times a week, you can save time (and money) by shopping in bulk in one trip. When fruits and vegetables are in season, buying them at a farmer’s market or roadside stand ensures that you are getting them as fresh as possible — gathered just hours before and straight from the field.

If you’re going to make a mess preparing fruits and vegetables for your smoothie, make enough to last a week. It takes a little longer, but all you have to do is clean up the mess once and you’re done.

After cleaning your vegetables, divide them into portions large enough to make one smoothie and store them in zip-lock bags in the fridge. When you’re ready to make a smoothie, take one of the bags.

This can also be done with fresh fruit. Simply wash, divide, and place in a bag. Freeze anything you aren’t going to use in the next few days. Simply open a bag of fruit and place it in your blender when you need it.

And, because you’re already making smoothies, make a big mess and make more than one serving. They can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two days or frozen for up to three months.

To help prevent oxidation, add a teaspoon or two of lemon juice. If you’re using a frozen smoothie, take it out of the freezer the night before and let it thaw in the fridge.

Another time saver is to organize your kitchen so that making smoothies is easier. Rather than keeping all of the ingredients for smoothies in one place, set up a “smoothie station” on your counter with everything you need right at your fingertips.

There will be no digging or storing of anything. You’ll notice after a few days that you’re not making as many smoothies as you could because of the time it takes to prepare and store everything.

Making smoothies does not have to be a time-consuming task if done correctly and in accordance with the advice in this article. Making smoothies in bulk from your smoothie station with pre-packaged ingredients saves time and ensures you always have smoothies on hand.
